Decolonization & Indigenization of Organizations

Decolonization & Indigenization

Yesterday I was fortunate enough to have lunch with a colleague who spoke with me about his work with companies on decolonization and indigenization. Companies which are leading the way in breaking down barriers, fostering understanding, and creating more equitable and inclusive working environments for all.

My colleague’s decolonization work challenges dominant narratives and systems that perpetuate colonial ideologies.  His aim is to dismantle the structures of power, privilege, and oppression that have historically marginalized all Indigenous peoples. He spoke about Indigenization and how he focuses on valuing, integrating, and centering Indigenous knowledge, perspectives, and practices into the organizations with whom he works.

All organizations need to incorporate genuine commitment to reconciliation and social responsibility. This in turn builds trust, credibility, and stronger relationships with Indigenous communities, governments, and stakeholders. It opens doors to meaningful partnerships and collaborations that can contribute to positive social impact.

If anyone is interested in this training, please let me know; I am more than happy to connect you. Let's embrace the responsibility we have as companies to actively contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society.

Completing decolonization and indigenization training creates a workplace that respects and celebrates Indigenous knowledge, histories, and contributions. It’s our job to create a future where all marginalized voices are heard and valued!
